Mindfield Mixtape

MINDFIELD 'Tread Lightly' Mixtape.

Mindfield have formed a prominent following in the Adelaide hip hop scene over the past three years, during which time they have been working hard on the upcoming full length album 'This Way Up'

With 'This Way Up' scheduled for release in september, local dj legends sammyB and davidL have marked this momentous occasion by putting together a preview to the album which is the 'Tread Lightly Mixtape'. With sections of upcoming tracks mixed with verses by tooBiz, Mark1 and Bdeps over some well known instrumentals and an EXCLUSIVE track only to be found on this mixtape, davidL and sammyB have put together a seamless mixtape, filled to the brim with cuts and scratches, that is sure to keep you punters anticipating the release of the full length.This release is available FOR FREE from any Mindfield member at the moment, available for download at the bottom of this post , and in stores throughout Australia over the next few weeks. Mindfield urge the entire hiphop population to burn, upload and basically pimp this release to anyone who would like a copy, with the hope that those who enjoy the mixtape will support the crew by picking up 'This Way Up' when it is released.

No Stream? Download a mix instead

Due to a problem with the software that we use to record our shit, there was no stream last week. Hopefully that will be rectified soon.

However - since our DJ has vanished into thin air, we've been trying to come up with ways of filling the void. Last week i pre-recorded most of the show as a Mix CD, which we played on air. Felt pretty lazy in the studio just hitting play on a cd and then sitting there and just letting it play - BUT, the advantage is that since i had time to create the mix - I could do it properly. So its actually a pretty hot mix cd (at least in my opinion!).

So what I've done is chuck up the original mix for download, which has the added bonus of us not talking over everything.

Beat Of The Week: The Coup - My Favorite Mutiny

Revolutionary rap crew 'The Coup' have been releasing consistently solid material since their Wild Pitch released debut 'Kill My Landlord' (there was a tape before this before I get called out by a Coup completionist). On the most part I really don't get into politically charged rap unless it reflects on either world or local politics but Boots Riley has such a dope flow and so many important things to say.
